Microsoft, today released its Visual Studio for developers on the macOS environment. The first preview of Visual Studio for Mac has Microsoft hoping that the cross-platform will encourage more developers to build for Windows.
Developers in the past, had to use a virtual machine or a Windows machine to do any kind of coding for the Windows environment. Now with this new release a developer can build an app from front end to server right inside of macOS With .NET Core and Azure connectivity. Using shared coding technology borrowed from Xamarin for Visual Studio the developer is able to build apps for Android, iOS or macOS in one place and increase productivity. Check back here as I dig into this new environment.
The Mac edition of Visual Studio is available currently in a preview build and can be downloaded here.
